On August 5, 2019 Mikisa Thompson was found guilty for violating a Garner, NC noise ordinance after listening to Malcolm X speeches in her backyard. We do not consider this guilty verdict to be a loss, as we know that justice and true liberation will never be attained within the confines of a courtroom. The point of battling in a courtroom is not to prove our innocence or to beat white supremacy at its own game. Expecting agents of white supremacy to hold themselves to their own standards would be naive and ahistorical to say the least. The United States was built on a foundation of hypocrisy. The United States continues to be the epicenter of hypocrisy.
We study history and therefore know that police are tasked with upholding white supremacy; whether it be rounding up escaped slaves or firing 99 shots into a sleeping Fred Hampton’s home acting as servants on behalf of white supremacy is their primary task.
The courts are nothing more than a political theatre and as such we will never be pressed into submission. We will never be cowed by it’s pomp and circumstance. We will never overestimate our enemy.
Mikisa Thompson is fully prepared to appeal the charges. Our enemy is committed to oppressing us, and we must be doubly committed to resisting that oppression. “said Thompson
On May 16, 2019 Garner Police showed up on Mikisa Thompson’s doorstep at 10 pm ready to bulldoze her front door. Her only crime had been listening to the words of Malcolm X hours earlier that day. In life, Malcolm X was an avowed enemy of white supremacy and in death, his words strike fear into the hearts of those tasked with and committed to the preservation of the white race. supremacy and power for white people everywhere. This judicial system of amerikkka is designed to impose the power of white elites. The courts never have and never will represent the will of the people.
As you read this don’t feel that you or I, or the people who inhabit amerikkka are weak. Even though we are continually subjugated by the current power holders we have the power to make tremendous change happen. We do this by building the power of the people through struggle.
“Power in defense of freedom is greater than power in behalf of tyranny and oppression.” Malcolm X
The trial that was not only about punishment for Mikisa Thompson and her family, but to strike fear into the heart and mind of anyone wanting liberation from white domination. The trial was and is about maintaining white supremacy and power for white people everywhere. This judicial system of amerikkka is designed to impose the power of white elites. The courts never have and never will represent the will of the people.
Activism is a labor of love borne out of the desire for mass change that will bring about liberation with actions that challenge white supremacy wherever it rears its ugly head.
The global working class has gone through several revolutions and this will be the history that will repeat until class based oppression is eliminated. In order to evolve we must do what we have not done before.
The Thompson family is a target because they are comprised of mostly Black female activists. Takiyah Thompson, Mikisa’s daughter is an activist who neused and toppled a confederate soldier’s statue on August 14, 2017 at a courthouse in Durham, NC. All charges were dropped against Takiyah Thompson, however, the residual effects of this action has put the entire Thompson family on the radar of police and other racists as a target for retaliation.
Garner police along with her racist white neighbor have concoct a fantasy idea that Mikisa Thompson was listening to Malcolm X because her dog was killed by his dog. Only small minds could come to such a conclusion.
To the court system here in amerikkka, Mikisa and others who share the color of her skin were born criminals. Criminalization of activist and Black people in amerikkka is nothing new. The cogs in the system may change but the outcome remains the same. Whiteness is held as correct and law abiding and Blackness is deemed inherently criminal and threatening.
We will continue to fight not just now but until white supremacy is totally and completely eviscerated. The only way to be pose a threat to white supremacy is to meet force with force, organization with organization. White supremacy has its legislators, judges, and police, thus, we revolutionaries must be organized.
Onwards,
