Three Wilmington, North Carolina cops, James Gilmore, Kevin Piner, and Corporal Jessie Moore, were fired Tuesday after their violent, racist remarks were caught on dash camera footage.
During a June 4 audit of two hours worth of dash cam footage, Moore and Piner were both found on film saying the N-word multiple times. Gilmore was also caught on camera describing anti-racist protesters as “worshiping Blacks.”
In a phone conversation recorded about a half hour after the conversation with Gilmore , Jesse Moore and Kevin Piner could be heard engaging in a phone conversation about wanting to engage in acts of violence against Black people. During the call, Moore describes a woman he arrested the day before as “ni****” and “negro.” Moore continued on saying the woman needed “a bullet in her head right then.”
Moore then goes on to refer to a Black magistrate as a “fucking negro magistrate.”
Kevin Piner shared Moore’s sentiment saying he was “ready” for a civil war and would be buying a new assault rifle soon. Commenting on the state of society and predicting martial law, Piner goes on to say, “we are just gonna go out and start slaughtering them fucking ni*****. I can’t wait. God, I can’t wait.”
Piner went even further saying society needed a civil war to “wipe ’em off the fucking map. That’ll put ’em back about four or five generations.”
All officers involved admitted to saying everything captured on the dashcam footage.
While the content of these videos is obviously disturbing, it is not surprising. Every day, American cops are tasked with the task of feeding Black people into the modern day plantation system known as jails and prisons.
In many prisons work is unpaid. Other paying jobs may pay as little as $0.08 per hour. Black inmates are often subjected to torture and beatings by racist prison guards.
Whether or not they are caught on camera saying explicitly racist remarks, their role in our society is inherently violent and racist.
